Three residents of Dushanbe were detained by police officers on suspicion of hooliganism. They did not pay the taxi driver for the fare and beat him, the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the capital reports.

It is reported that the police detained Mehrodjiddin Safarov, Parviz Makhmadrakhimov and Shahboz Mukimov on this fact.


“The men got into a taxi on the evening of February 23 in the capital’s Bukhoro street and drove around the city for almost three hours. They got off at the Istiklol hospital and refused to pay 100 somoni on the meter. Instead, the young men beat him,” the police report says.

The driver managed to capture this on the camera of his mobile phone, and it was this recording that became evidence of the involvement of the above persons in this crime.

The Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that “in the actions of the suspects there are signs of Article 237 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan.”

“Currently, the issue of initiating a criminal case is being considered,” the metropolitan police said.

This article provides for a fine in the amount of 500 to 1 thousand indicators for calculations (1 indicator 68 somoni) or imprisonment for up to two years.
