TBMM President Numan Kurtulmus, representing Türkiye, arrived in Mexico City for the 10th Parliamentary Presidents Meeting of MIKTA, comprising Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Türkiye and Australia.
President Kurtulmus was welcomed at Felipe Angeles International Airport by Türkiye’s Ambassador to Mexico, Ilhan Kemal Tug, Alfredo Aurelio Gonzalez Cruz, Chairman of the Mexico-Türkiye Friendship Group at the Mexican Chamber of Deputies and other officials.
Accompanying Kurtulmus are Murat Emir, Deputy Group Chairman of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) and Member of Parliament for Ankara; Filiz Kilic, Deputy Group Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and Member of Parliament for Nevsehir; Ahmet Gokhan Saricam, Chairman of the Türkiye-Mexico Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group and Member of Parliament for AK Party Kirklareli; and Selman Ozboyaci, Member of Parliament for AK Party Konya.
The 10th Parliamentary Presidents Meeting of MIKTA, themed “Joint Parliamentary Activities for Building a More Peaceful, Equal, and Just World,” will take place in Mexico City, hosted by Marcela Guerra Castillo, President of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies.
Several sessions will be held during the meeting, including “Enhancing Global Peace through Dialogue: How Can Parliaments Make an Impact?” “Trade as a Tool for Sustainable Development and Increased Common Welfare,” and “Ensuring Human Rights in Light of Increased International Migration Flows.”
President Kurtulmus is expected to deliver a speech during these sessions and moderate the session on migration.
Besides participating in the meeting, President Kurtulmus will hold bilateral talks with President Castillo of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies.
President Kurtulmus will also attend a reception hosted by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador in honor of MIKTA parliamentary presidents and is scheduled to conduct further bilateral meetings.
President Kurtulmus will lay a wreath at the Ataturk Monument during his stay in Mexico City and visit the Yunus Emre Institute.
