Avesta.Tj – The day before, on February 27, on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 52nd session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, a meeting was held between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Muzaffar Husseinzoda, and the Vice-President of the International Commission against the Death Penalty, Ms. Ruth Dreyfus.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, during the meeting, cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the International Commission against the Death Penalty in the field of human rights protection was discussed, as well as other issues of mutual interest were considered.
On the same day, Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Muzaffar Husseinzoda met with Acting Director of the European Office of the UN Environment Program Sylvie Motar.
During the meeting, issues of developing cooperation in the field of combating the consequences of climate change, biodiversity conservation, research on melting glaciers, monitoring and attracting international experience in this area were considered.
It was emphasized that the adoption of the UNGA resolution declaring 2025 the International Year for the Preservation of Glaciers, as well as the establishment of the UN Trust Fund to support the conservation of glaciers, will give impetus to the implementation of global measures to protect glaciers from intense melting and will make a significant contribution to the measures taken the international community under the Paris Agreement.
