Director General of the Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD) Gaby Portnoy on Tuesday accused groups associated with Iran of launching cyberattacks on civilian targets in many countries in the region.
Speaking at the annual Cyber Week held at Tel Aviv University in central Israel, the INCD chief said the Israeli defense community knows the Iranian cyber activities “inside out,” and “is working to disrupt them in different ways.”
“Anyone who carries out cyberattacks against Israeli citizens must take into account the price he will pay for it,” he warned.
The INCD has been working hard to increase resilience and expand capabilities to detect cyberattacks in the past year, raising shields and exposing “malicious” activities, specifically those from Iran, the director general noted, adding most of the attacks were thwarted.
Iran has not responded to the accusations yet.
