Israel launched a nationwide plan to construct energy storage facilities in residential homes, the country’s Energy Ministry and the Planning Administration said in a joint statement on Wednesday.
The plan will allow the setup of storage facilities in a wide range of locations, including homes and EV charging and gas stations to store energy generated by photovoltaic facilities.
Apart from saving electricity, the setup of storage facilities nationwide will help to regulate electricity supply in high-demand areas, according to the statement.
It added that energy storage helps to deal with electricity grid loads, enables electricity supply beyond generation hours, and increases the production potential of renewable energies while reducing air pollution and landscape damage.
